Puzzle Boy
Patch v1.0
Release date: 2/29/2008
*********************************************
Original Language: Japanese
*********************************************

Puzzle Boy is a puzzle game featuring two produce, a potato named Potarin, and an eggplant
named Eggplant-Kid, or Egg-Kid, who are trying to get out of a labyrinth of many floors.
In each room, they must push blocks and turn doors to arrive at the staircase leading to the next floor.
This game features a puzzle challenge, where you must try to finish the 80 floors.
Or else if you prefer a quick game, pick the Trial mode. You will have five minutes to play ten randomly-
selected floors within your selected difficulty. Race the clock or a friend.

This game was released by Telenet Japan for the PC Engine, as well as by Atlus for the Famicom Disk
System, and by Acclaim for the Game Boy. Though an NES version may have been planned for release
stateside at some point, the only American release was the Game Boy version, retitled Kwirk.
I believe each release has some unique puzzles, so you should try them all.

Emulation Status:
I have used mednafen and Hu-Go! 2.12, modified by g8z to include tracing support.
The game works great on mednafen.
It also works on Ootake, but the version I tested had a bug where the ending
  wouldn't display correctly.
On Hu-Go, the control was extremely unresponsive
during gameplay for some reason (but was fine during the startup menus).

What's done:
 - I haven't beaten pro mode yet, so I don't know if it contains any text or
graphics that need translation. But judging by the ending of the lower
three difficulties, I don't expect so. But everything else should be
	all done.

How to patch:

PROPER ROM:
 - 256KB plus a 512-byte header (I'm not sure if PCE ROMs need headers, but this one has one)

 - Download this zip file.
 - Download the game ROM. (I won't provide this. You find it.)
 - Download Lunar IPS. http://fusoya.cggames.net
 - Open Lunar IPS. Click Apply patch. Pick the ROM and the patch.
-If that is too difficult, open Lunar IPS, then close it. Do this to associate IPS files with Lunar IPS.
-Now just double-click the IPS file, and double click the ROM.

How to play:

On the title screen, push Run if you would like to start a new game,
or push Select if you would like to enter a password to continue Puzzle Challenge.

 Controls:
Directions = move cursor, move Potarin or Eggplant-Kid
Button I = Enter selections on menu. During the game, push I if you would like to reset the level.
Button II = Display a menu where you can reset the level or quit. Not accessible during a two-player game.

To start the game, choose a game mode.
Puzzle Challenge : Work your way through 80 floors. There are four courses of increasing difficulty, each
     with 20 floors to solve.
1 player trial : You can choose a difficulty, then you work through ten randomly selected floors, racing to
beat the five minute time limit.
2 players trial : Challenge a friend to a split-screen race to finish ten floors within five minutes.
2 players Com-link : This appears to be the same as trial mode. My guess is that this would allow
you play a two-player game on seperate screens if you had the game and two TurboExpress systems.
If that is the case, I am not aware of an emulator that will allow me to test this.

Within each floor, your goal is to get to the staircase to the next floor.
You can push the yellow blocks around, but you cannot pull them. If you get stuck, push Button I to restart
  the level.
Blocks can be pushed into pits. If the block can fit perfectly within the pit, it will fall in and
create a floor on the tiles where it fell.
Blocks can be pushed over a pit, and they will remain on top if they do not fit. However, blocks
can only be pushed if the tile underneath the piece of the block Potarin is facing is a floor tile.
Say the "o"s represent Potarin, and the "*" represent a pit. Figure 1 is before he pushes a block.
Now, for the next move, Figure 2, Potarin can only push the left side of the block, because the
right side has a pit underneath it.

 Doors:
 They come in several varieties:

 +---+ +____+ +____+

All doors can be turned clockwise or counterclockwise, but only if a block or wall does not
  obstruct the turning.

              +----+
              | |
              +----+
In this example, the T door can only be turned counter clockwise by pushing where the arrows are
pointing. The square block prevents the door from being turned clockwise.

After clearing each floor of the Puzzle Challenge, you will be given a menu screen with a password.
Copy the password down if you want to save your progress. To restore your game to that point, press
Select on the title screen to go to the password entry menu. Use the directions to choose a character,
and push Button I to enter the letter. If you make a mistake, I think you'll just have to continue on
entering the rest of the password. After entering the last letter, the cursor will wrap around to the
first, and you can make corrections. Press Run when you have the correct password entered.

On the menu after a floor, you can choose Continue to return to the floor select screen, where a
smiley face will mark that you have completed the floor.
Otherwise, choose Course select to challenge a different course, or choose Quit to return to the mode
  select screen.
To complete each difficulty, you must complete the first 16 floors in any order. Then you will be
allowed to select the last four floors. Complete them all to see the ending.

No distributing the patch with ROM, either pre-patched, or in one zip.
That's wrong.
